Norwegian National Charged in Kisumu Over Alleged Incident Involving Minors

A 62-year-old Norwegian national, Aulid Bent Ove, has been charged in Kisumu following an incident involving two minors during a visit to a local family.

According to reports, the man had been staying with a friend in Kisumu between March 10 and March 14. On the day of his departure, he offered to give the host’s two daughters—aged 12 and 8—a short ride in his vehicle, a Land Rover Defender.

The children’s parent agreed to the arrangement on the condition that the man would drop them just outside the gate as he opened it. However, instead of stopping as agreed, the man reportedly drove off with the children, prompting concern from the parent who attempted to reach him by phone without success.

He later returned approximately an hour later. Upon arrival, the eldest child reported that she had been subjected to inappropriate conduct during the drive.

The matter was immediately reported to authorities, and officers moved swiftly to arrest Aulid Bent Ove. He was taken to Maseno Police Station, where he was processed before being arraigned in court.

In court, he pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a bond of KSh 100,000 pending further proceedings.

The case has raised concern among residents and child protection advocates, highlighting the importance of vigilance and safeguarding measures when it comes to minors.

Authorities have indicated that investigations are ongoing, and the matter will proceed through the judicial process as the court determines the facts of the case.
