Police Constable Ramadhan Mattanka died from massive internal bleeding after an arrow pierced his heart, a post-mortem report has confirmed.

The General Service Unit (GSU) officer was attacked at Gate D of State House, Nairobi, on Monday, October 13, 2025. He was on duty when a 56-year-old assailant shot him with a bow and arrow.

Arrow Penetrated Lung and Heart

The autopsy, released Tuesday, October 14, showed the arrow entered through the left seventh and eighth ribs. It then pierced the left lung before fatally damaging the heart.

The injury caused severe hemorrhaging, leading to rapid loss of life. Mattanka was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Burial Set for Tuesday in Kajiado

Mattanka, a Muslim, will be buried later today in Kajiado County. His interment was delayed at the request of investigators to allow completion of the autopsy and preserve evidence.

The suspect, identified as Kithuka, remains in custody at Kimani Police Station. Authorities are probing his motive and whether the attack was premeditated.

The National Police Service has condemned the assault, calling it a “heinous act” against an officer protecting one of Kenya’s most secure locations.
