The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when the man was discovered unresponsive inside a toilet block within the expansive construction grounds.
According to police and site sources, the discovery was first made by a chef attached to the Chinese management team overseeing the project.
The chef reportedly raised the alarm immediately after finding the worker lying motionless, triggering a swift response from both security personnel and fellow workers at the site.
Efforts were made to save the man’s life as he was rushed to a nearby medical facility. However, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, deepening concerns over what exactly transpired in the moments leading up to his death.
Officers who arrived at the scene began processing the area and documenting evidence, focusing particularly on the toilet block where the body had been found.
Preliminary observations by investigators revealed a minor injury on the right side of the deceased’s head, a detail that has since become central to the ongoing probe.

The body was later transferred to Lee Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death.

The first is that the worker may have suffered a sudden medical episode, while the second explores the possibility of foul play.

The search ended tragically when his body was discovered submerged in a concealed water sump located beneath the stadium terraces. The location of the body, in an area that had been partially boarded up, raised immediate suspicion.
Investigators at the time noted visible injuries on Kyengo’s body, particularly on the back of his head and neck, along with signs of bleeding from the nose and mouth. The positioning of the body suggested that it may have been deliberately hidden, intensifying concerns about possible foul play. A post-mortem examination later confirmed that he had sustained injuries to his head and back prior to his death.
According to his wife, Kyengo had expressed distress over delayed wages in the months leading up to his disappearance. He had reportedly been planning to claim his outstanding pay and leave his job, raising questions about whether workplace disputes or financial grievances may have played a role in the circumstances surrounding his death.
The discovery of Kyengo’s body prompted an immediate suspension of construction activities at the stadium, with sections of the site sealed off to allow for forensic investigations. Workers who had last seen him on the day he disappeared were questioned, although none could definitively confirm whether he had left the premises.
In contrast, construction work has not been halted following the latest incident involving the Chinese worker.
