Sakaja Donates 5 Acres as Ruto Pledges Ksh50M for AIPCK Church Construction
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced the donation of five acres of county land to the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Kenya (AIPCK) for the construction of its new national headquarters, with President William Ruto pledging Ksh50 million to fund the project’s first phase.
Sakaja Pledges County Land for AIPCK Headquarters
Speaking during an AIPCK service in Nairobi on Sunday, October 12, Sakaja said the Nairobi County Government would identify suitable land for the church before completing the formal allocation process. He emphasized that his move was inspired by President Ruto’s commitment to supporting faith-based institutions.
“As your Governor, I’m going to give you five acres of land for your church headquarters. Once we identify it, I’ll handle the paperwork so that the President can begin construction,” Sakaja stated.
Ruto Commits Ksh50 Million for First Phase
President Ruto, who attended the event, commended AIPCK’s historical role in Kenya’s independence struggle and confirmed a Ksh50 million donation toward the first construction phase. He added that more funds would follow to ensure completion.
“This church prayed for Kenya’s independence. We can’t repay you enough, but we’ll do something small to appreciate your efforts,” Ruto said.
The two leaders announced the initiative during the launch of a new AIPCK archdiocese in Nairobi. They underscored the government’s ongoing support for religious organizations.
Additional Support for Education
Earlier that day, Ruto pledged Ksh60 million and 20 teachers to Starehe Boys Centre. The funds and staff will replace asbestos roofing and improve infrastructure at the institution.
