Justin Muturi Denies Claims of Having Meetings With President Ruto Allies
Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has denied claims that he met an envoy sent by President William Ruto to negotiate a reunion.
In a written statement, Muturi rejected a news article asserting he had admitted such meetings. He insisted he had never asked for, nor received, any emissary from the Head of State.
He characterised the allegations as “fake news,” accusing those promoting them of attempting to sow division within the opposition.
Muturi said, “This is fake news. Let it be clear, I have never met, sent, nor received any emissaries from President William Ruto or anyone acting on his behalf.” He added that the misinformation is “a desperate attempt to push a false narrative and sow division.”
Alleged Offers & Political Pressure
The false post accused Ruto of sending officials, including Public Service CS Geofrey Ruku, to promise Muturi monetary incentives if he joined the Kenya Kwanza side. Muturi dismissed these claims.
He affirmed that under no circumstances will he abandon the opposition. His principles, he says, will not allow betrayal of the public’s trust.
Ruto’s Broader Political Engagements
Hours before Muturi’s statement, President Ruto disclosed that he is engaging opposition leaders in dialogue to forge consensus and drive national development.
At a church service in Nairobi, he confirmed he has met with key figures including former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, and Gideon Moi. He claimed to have engaged 80 percent of MPs.
Ruto said his goal is national unity, saying continual engagement will benefit all. Health CS Aden Duale added that Ruto is also reportedly courting Kalonzo Musyoka, though the Wiper leader remains firm that he has no intention to join the government.
Reports also suggest that Ruto plans to create two new deputy Prime Cabinet Secretary positions under Musalia Mudavadi. One position may go to Gideon Moi or his appointee, and another is expected to be awarded in the coastal region.
