GSU Officer Stationed at JKIA Killed in Embakasi Hotel Dispute
A General Service Unit (GSU) officer assigned to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was fatally assaulted during an altercation at a hotel in Embakasi on Sunday, October 12, 2025. The incident has triggered a widespread police manhunt for the unidentified assailant.
Fatal Confrontation at Mombasa Road Resort
The officer had reportedly visited the hotel off Mombasa Road to charge his mobile phone when a dispute with a civilian escalated into a physical fight. A hotel supervisor witnessed the suspect strangling the officer on the premises.
Responding officers from Embakasi Police Station later found the officer’s body submerged in a water-filled trench nearby. He bore visible injuries to his neck and face, consistent with strangulation.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the attack. Witnesses say the officer was overpowered during the confrontation. His body has been moved to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest. The identity of the attacker remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
Rising Concerns Over Officer Safety
This incident marks another troubling case of a security officer killed under ambiguous circumstances. Earlier in 2025, a GSU officer was shot dead by a colleague following an argument at a Nairobi entertainment venue. That shooter was subdued by bystanders after attempting to flee the scene.
The latest killing has reignited concerns about the safety of officers during off-duty hours, particularly in high-risk areas like bars and hotels along major transport corridors such as Mombasa Road.
