Woman Hacks Boyfriend to Death in Bomet After Dispute Over Mobile Phone
Woman kills boyfriend over mobile phone in Bomet: Residents of Samoget Village in Bomet East Sub-County are reeling in shock after a 25-year-old woman allegedly hacked her boyfriend to death following an argument over a mobile phone.
Dispute Turns Deadly
According to Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa, the suspect, identified as Faith Cherono, reportedly went to her boyfriend’s house on Tuesday to demand the return of a phone she claimed was hers.
An argument ensued between Cherono and the deceased, Emanuel Kiprono, aged 33. Witnesses said the two later appeared to have reconciled and were seen walking together toward the Mau Forest area shortly after.
However, police investigations indicate that it was there that Cherono allegedly attacked Kiprono, striking him on the back of the head with a sword, killing him instantly.
Suspect Surrenders
After committing the crime, Cherono reportedly fled the scene and crossed into Narok County, where she surrendered herself at Tendwet Police Station.
Police officers who later visited the crime scene recovered Kiprono’s body, which bore a deep cut on the back of the head. Officials moved the remains to the Tenwek Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police Launch Investigation
Confirming the incident, Commander Singa stated that the suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation.
Authorities are also pursuing leads to determine whether the suspect carried the murder weapon to the scene or picked it up during the altercation.
