Two Guards Killed in Kabete High School Night Raid
Two security guards were fatally attacked during a violent break-in at Kabete Veterinary Laboratory Secondary School on Friday night, October 17, 2025. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
The raid occurred just as KCSE candidates wrapped up final exam rehearsals—raising fears the attack was timed to disrupt national exams.
Suspects Targeted Exam-Critical Facilities
According to the school principal, intruders stormed the campus under cover of darkness and ransacked the staffroom and computer laboratory. They made off with 10 laptops and computer accessories, including keyboards.
CCTV footage briefly captured one suspect’s face before the cameras were destroyed. Investigators recovered dropped keyboards and damaged surveillance equipment near the scene.
Guards Found Dead After Neighbour Alerted Authorities
A guard from a nearby school heard the commotion and alerted the principal. Upon arrival, he found one guard already dead and the other critically injured.
“We rushed the second guard to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries,” the principal said.
Both bodies have been taken to Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Suspended Students Top Suspects
School management believes the attackers were former students recently given long suspensions. The precision of the break-in—and knowledge of campus layout—suggests insider involvement.
“The timing wasn’t random,” the principal noted. “They struck right before KCSE, possibly out of resentment.”
Police Review Evidence, Appeal for Tips
Investigators are analyzing partial CCTV footage and forensic evidence. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the search for the suspects intensifies.
The incident has sparked alarm over school security during high-stakes exam periods.
