Robert Burale Sues Alex Mwakideu and Sister Over Defamation, Seeks Ksh20 Million Compensation
Prominent preacher and motivational speaker Robert Burale has filed a defamation suit against media personality Alex Mwakideu and his sister Rozina Mwakideu, demanding Ksh20 million in damages.
According to a petition filed at the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday, October 8, Burale accuses the siblings of publishing false and damaging claims in a YouTube interview shared on Alex’s channel.
Burale Accuses Mwakideus of Spreading Malicious Claims
The interview featured Rozina Mwakideu, who recounted her one-year marriage to Burale, describing it as “the darkest period” of her life and “the biggest mistake” she ever made.
Rozina alleged that her marriage to the preacher was marked by emotional neglect and financial struggles, claiming Burale distanced himself from her emotionally. She also said she accessed his private documents through his email, making distressing discoveries that worsened their conflict.
Burale, in his court filing, dismissed the allegations as malicious, defamatory, and intended to damage his reputation, insisting the claims were false and exaggerated.
Pastor Demands Video Removal and Public Retraction
In his petition, Burale accuses Alex Mwakideu of professional negligence, arguing that he failed to verify his sister’s allegations before broadcasting them to the public.
The preacher now seeks a court order to compel the Mwakideus to delete the YouTube video and stop further sharing or reposting of the content online.
“Pending the hearing and determination of this application inter partes, an injunction is granted restraining and prohibiting the sharing or posting of any type of interaction regarding the defamatory publication,” reads part of the court document.
Burale also wants the court to compel the defendants to issue a public apology and retract the alleged defamatory statements.
“An order of injunction is granted, legally compelling the defendants to publicly withdraw and acknowledge the falsehood of the defamatory verbatim in the video,” the petition adds.
Viral Interview Draws Online Attention
The contested YouTube interview has since garnered over 650,000 views, with short clips circulating widely across social media platforms.
As of Thursday afternoon, neither Alex nor Rozina had issued a public response to the lawsuit.
