Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris Demands DCI Probe Pastor Ng’ang’a Over Viral Assault Confession

Pastor Ng’ang’a video investigation: Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch an immediate probe into Pastor James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Ministry, following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him admitting to participating in a violent assault.
Viral Clip Sparks Public Outrage
The undated clip, which has been widely shared online, shows the controversial preacher claiming that he and seven others once assaulted a woman.
“We assaulted one woman while we were eight people. We did it,” Ng’ang’a is heard saying in the video.
The video quickly went viral, prompting strong reactions from Kenyans, many expressing shock and anger over the alleged confession. However, the authenticity of the clip has not yet been verified.
Passaris: “If Real, It’s a Criminal Confession”
Reacting to the video on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Passaris urged investigators to establish whether the footage is genuine or artificially generated using AI.
“In this era of AI-generated and manipulated videos, I don’t know if the clip is genuine or a deep fake, but one thing remains: it must be investigated,” she stated.
She added that if confirmed to be authentic, the clip represents a criminal confession rather than a sermon.
“If that video is real, then it is not a sermon, it is a criminal confession. It should have been flagged instantly, and the pastor picked up for questioning by the authorities.”
Passaris further challenged the preacher to surrender to police and name his alleged accomplices.
“I keep wondering where the woman is today. How has her life been since that ordeal? The DCI must act swiftly to verify the video, protect the victim, and uphold the rule of law,” she wrote.
Ng’ang’a’s History of Controversy
Pastor Ng’ang’a is no stranger to public outrage. He has often courted controversy over his demeaning remarks and dramatic behavior during church services.
Earlier this year, critics condemned him for reportedly slapping a congregant during a Sunday service, an incident that drew widespread criticism from human rights activists and religious leaders.
As the DCI continues to face pressure from the public and lawmakers, no official statement has been issued regarding whether the agency has commenced investigations into the viral video.
