Pastor Ng’ang’a Begs for Forgiveness After Disturbing Woman Assault Confession
The Pastor Ng’ang’a woman assault confession continues to spark outrage after the controversial Neno Evangelism preacher released a new video pleading for forgiveness and citing his old age.
Pastor Ng’ang’a’s Emotional Plea
In a brief, emotional video that surfaced online on Friday, Pastor James Ng’ang’a tearfully asked Kenyans to forgive him, saying, “Even if I have wronged, just forgive me because I am growing old.” The city preacher then broke down in tears mid-prayer, saying, “Yes, my Father. Yes, Jehovah Lord. Help me, Lord. Thank you. I might not finish this because I am feeling the grace of God.”
The less-than-a-minute clip appeared to respond to public backlash following his earlier admission of assaulting a woman — a confession made during a church service that shocked Kenyans nationwide.
Viral Confession Sparks Outrage
Earlier this week, a separate video went viral showing Ng’ang’a claiming he and seven others assaulted a woman. “We assaulted one woman while we were eight people. We did it,” the preacher said in the video.
The remarks prompted widespread condemnation and calls for investigation. Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe the clip’s authenticity, warning that if genuine, it amounted to a “criminal confession.”
“In this era of AI-generated and manipulated videos, I don’t know if the clip is genuine or a deep fake, but it must be investigated,” Passaris said.
Pastor Defends Himself
Responding to the uproar two days later, Pastor Ng’ang’a dismissed the criticism as politically motivated, claiming some politicians were targeting him because of his large following.
“What have I now done? I know you people will make phone calls that I be arrested, what is that now? There is God in heaven, and one day you will pay,” he said. The preacher added that he would “present my case to God, who will scatter you,” insisting he had no other platform to defend himself.
Ongoing Public Debate
The controversy surrounding the Pastor Ng’ang’a woman assault confession has reignited debate over the accountability of religious leaders in Kenya. Many Kenyans have demanded that authorities treat such confessions with the same seriousness as any criminal allegation.
As of Saturday, the DCI had not yet issued an official statement on whether an investigation had been launched.
