Elderly Man Dies at Bungoma Law Courts
An elderly man tragically died at the Bungoma Law Courts on Tuesday while waiting for his case to be heard, sparking sorrow among court users and staff.
Man Collapses While Waiting for Hearing
According to a Judiciary statement, the man, who appeared visibly unwell, arrived at the court around 9 a.m. on a motorcycle. He was issued a “Priority Card” by a customer care officer to help expedite his matter, which was listed before the Environment and Land Court.
He reportedly chose to rest on the grass outside the court as he waited for his advocate to arrive. However, when a court official went to update him about his case progress, the man was found unresponsive.
Police and Judiciary Respond
Police officers were called to the scene and confirmed that the man had passed away. His body was later moved to the Bungoma County Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation and postmortem.
Judiciary spokesperson Hon. Paul Ndemo described the incident as deeply unfortunate, sending condolences to the family and noting that the Judiciary remains committed to supporting the bereaved during this difficult time.
