Court Releases Man Who Claimed to Be President Ruto’s Son After Parliament Trespass
A 19-year-old man arrested for trespassing at the Parliament Buildings has been freed by a Nairobi court after pleading not guilty to the charge.
The suspect, identified as Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, also known as Nelson Muriithi, was apprehended on August 7, 2025, at around 9:30 p.m. in the Bunge Towers car park, where he allegedly entered without lawful authority.
Magistrate Warns Against Repeat Offence
Appearing before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi on Thursday, October 9, Kidero denied the trespass charge. The magistrate released him under a one-year good behaviour condition, cautioning him against returning to Parliament premises.
“Do not repeat the same offence of going back to Parliament; I do not want to regret freeing you,” said Magistrate Ekhubi.
The court released Kidero to his uncle, Kelvin Chege, who pledged to keep close watch over him.
“I’m releasing you to your uncle today, but on the condition that you do not commit any other offence, and at no point, Mr Chege, do not let him out of your sight,” the magistrate added.
Kidero’s Claims of Being Ruto’s Son
Ruto’s son parliament trespass: During an earlier mention of the case on September 25, Kidero stunned the court when he claimed to be the biological son of President William Ruto. He further alleged that he played a role in helping the Head of State win the presidency.
“My mother is called Angeline Muriithi. William Samoei Ruto is my father; I helped him to become president,” Kidero said in court. “I think there is a mistake going on in Parliament.”
Following the remarks, the court advised Kidero’s family to seek medical evaluation for him, urging them to pay closer attention to his welfare.
“Since this young man was brought before the court, efforts have been made to contact his family. Please tell his father to show more concern for his son,” Magistrate Ekhubi remarked.
Family Urged to Provide Support
The magistrate emphasized that Kidero’s family should ensure he receives proper care and avoid circumstances that could lead him into further legal trouble.
The incident has stirred public conversation about mental health awareness and security measures within national institutions like Parliament.
