The Amani National Congress (ANC) has issued a firm clarification stating that its founding party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, alongside his team, officially exited the party after joining other political formations.
In a public statement, ANC emphasized that the move was already concluded and formally acknowledged, signaling a clear separation between the party and its former leadership.
The party further revealed that it has extended an invitation to Mudavadi and his allies to reconsider their current political affiliations and potentially rejoin ANC. However, it noted that it respects their decision should they opt to remain in their current parties—particularly given that many now hold leadership positions elsewhere.
In light of the foregoing, the Party hereby notifies all members, supporters, and the general public as follows:
1. The Party is fully constituted and legally subsisting. All members are hereby called upon to return to the Party forthwith and to resume active participation in Party activities.
2. The Party shall, with immediate effect, commence the process of appointing Acting Officials in all positions vacated by officials who decamped to other political parties and who remain unwilling to return to the Amani National Congress.
3. The Party organs shall be activated and operationalized expeditiously. All relevant stakeholders will be duly notified of the timelines for such activation.
4. The Amani National Congress remains a formidable and credible political party. The Party shall field candidates in all eligible elective positions across the Republic of Kenya.
In a pointed message aimed at reinforcing its identity, ANC stressed that political parties are owned by their members, not individual leaders, underscoring its intent to continue operating independently despite the departure of its founding figure.
The statement also referenced institutions such as the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), signaling that the party’s position is aligned with official party records and regulatory frameworks.
Mudavadi, who previously led ANC, has since aligned himself with the ruling political structure, becoming a key figure within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)-led coalition under President William Ruto.

The development highlights ongoing realignments within Kenya’s political landscape, where party affiliations continue to shift even as legacy parties seek to maintain relevance and assert their independence.
ANC’s statement appears aimed at reaffirming its institutional continuity and clarifying its status to supporters and the broader public, particularly ahead of future political engagements.
